- The various species of piapara have various different colour patterns over a generally similar body shape.
- This particular species of Leporinus has silvery scales and three spots along the flanks.
Fish Distribution:
- Piaparas and related species of Leporinus are endemic to the Amazon and Orinoco River Basins as well as various other river systems throughout South America.
- These fishes tend to frequent weedy areas in ponds or slow moving water.
