Fish Description:
- European perch are a typical perch shape, greenish to black dorsally with bright red pelvic, anal and tail fins. The body is grey to yellow with several darker vertical bands that fade as they near the belly.
Fish Distribution:
- European perch occur naturally throughout Europe to the northernmost extremity of Scandinavia, including rivers draining to the Arctic Ocean.
- This species has been widely introduced into several countries including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and China.
Fish Size Common Length:
Commonly 10-16 inches (25-40 cm) long. Maximum size around 22 inches (55 cm) and 8 pounds.
